Beer Guide London Visits – 15/06/2024

By admin

Craft Beer Cabin (Bromley) (1 / x)

In the space that used to be Lock & Barrel but completely refurbed, is this second branch of CBC. A really comfortable space in which to enjoy the quality beers from the 6 taps, or the fully stocked fridge of packaged beers. Expect a friendly welcome here from Nick. Close to Bromley North station, and a short walk from the Star & Garter.

Brew York – Particip8 – 4.5% (Draft) – £2.20 1/3 pint
UnBarred – Joosy – 5.1% (Draft) – £2.40 1/3 pint

Star and Garter (2 / 168)

When you walk past this pub you would be forgiven for thinking it is a standard High Street pub but step inside and it reveals its true character. Sister to the equally excellent Stormbird the beer range here is always of a high standard. 18 taps, 8 handpulls and c100 packaged beers. Luckily 1/3s are available. This pub is reason in itself to visit Bromley.

Thornbridge – Jaipur Noir – 5.9% (Cask) – £2.75 1/2 pint
Verdant – Lightbulb – 4.8% (Cask) – £2.50 1/2 pint

Barrel and Horn (3 / 169)

Fuller’s pub that is of the newer generation that also offers a wide range of guest beers. 15 on tap, but on this recent visit the range doesn’t seem quite as good. Lack of cask ales too which is unusual for a Fuller’s pub. Food is available.

Gipsy Hill – Apogee – 4.0% (Draft) – £3.25 1/2 pint

Cork & Cask (4 / 170)

Formerly known as the Bitter End this is a micropub in a former off licence. The size and layout, though, gives more of a pub feel. 4 cask ales are served on gravity from the large chiller behind the bar and are in excellent condition. 6 taps and a few packaged beers complete the offering. They offer a cheese & charcuterie board.

Oakham – Citra – 4.2% (Cask) – £2.60 1/2 pint

Real Ale Way (Hayes, Bromley) (5 / 171)

Micropub opposite Hayes station. Typical one room layout with a cosy atmosphere. Up to 7 cask ales available on gravity from Kent breweries alongside ciders.

Tonbridge – Rustic – 4.0% (Cask) – £2.30 1/2 pint

Craft Beer Rooms (6 / 172)

Single room micropub around the corner from Hayes station. 10 beers on tap from all over the country plus a wide selection of spirits and cocktails. Music played in the bar plus a TV showing sporting events make it feel more pub like.

Stealth – Agent Nectaron – 4.7% (Draft) – £3.75 1/2 pint

Real Ale Way (West Wickham) (7 / 173)

Second branch of this micropub, lighter and airier than its sister but with a similar offering. Expect up to 8 cask ales served on gravity from the cold room with an emphasis on Kent breweries.

Tonbridge – Blonde Ambition – 4.2% (Cask) – £2.30 1/2 pint

Three Hounds Bottle Shop (8 / 174)

Fantastic bar close to Clock House station with 3 cask ales, 14 taps and 4 packed fridges. They’ve just taken the lease on the shop next door with a plan to knock through and increase capacity. Also planning on installing a small brewery in the basement to supply the bar.

Stay Wild – Matu – 4.2% (Cask) – £1.35 1/3 pint
Duration – Rhubarb Reverie – 5.0% (Draft) – £2.50 1/3 pint
Vault City – Peach Ice Tea Table Sour – 3.4% (Draft) – £1.75 1/3 pint

Br3wery (9 / 175)

The brewing kit has now been moved to a new location a couple of streets away which has resulted in this tap room being a lot less cramped. The new brewery space opens infrequently for on-site drinking, keep an eye on their socials. The original tap is a nice space to enjoy their beers dispensed from the 8 taps, which include a couple of guests. Pizza can be ordered in.

Br3wery – Hun – 4.0% (Draft) – £3.20 1/2 pint
