Beer Guide London Visits – 11/05/2024

Mikkeller Brewpub (1 / 106)

Smart brewpub from the legendary Danish brewer. The shiny kit sits at one end of the single room space, although there is a basement with additional seating plus pavement tables and chairs. 20 beers on tap showcasing both their own beers and well chosen guests. The second Mikkeller site in London this one has a much more chilled vibe to it, although it can get busy in the evenings.

Mikkeller Brewpub London – Elani – 4.8% (Draft) – £2.30 1/3 pint

Queen’s Head (2 / 107)

Superb pub, part of the Mother Kelly’s family, in a quiet side street less than 5 minutes from the bustle of King’s Cross. 14 taps and 3 handpumps serving the kind of great selection you expect from this group. Cheese and charcuterie boards are available for you to graze on as you relax with your beer. Given its location it can get very busy in the evenings, but during the day it is an absolute oasis of calm and a very pleasant place to while away a couple of hours.

Milestone – Summer Lovin – 3.9% (Cask) – £2.10 1/2 pint

Euston Tap (3 / 108)

Bar in the iconic gatehouse outside Euston station. It’s a very small space inside, but there is additional seating if you ascend the spiral staircase. However, recently, they have greatly expanded the outside seating area, pretty much doubling the capacity. The beer range is what you expect from a pub in the Tap family with up to 7 cask ales and up to 19 taps. The packaged range, though, has diminished over the years. A shame as it was a great place to stock up before your train North.

New Bristol – The Joy Of Sesh – 4.2% (Draft) – £3.00 1/2 pint

Beer + Burger (King’s Cross) (4 / 109)

Just north of the station, across the canal, this large venue offers an excellent selection of both draft and packaged beers. The burger menu is highly recommended, especially the poutine! Definitely worth the short walk if you need to get some beers for your train journey.

Ideal Day – YQ Wheat Beer – 5.0% – £4.40 1/2 pint

Babel Beerhouse (5 / 110)

Formerly Little Creatures, this large bar still has the brew kit in situ, but isn’t currently brewing. Beer range is from Fourpure and Magic Rock, a throwback to its former owners. This place will be revisited in a couple of months as right now it is on the cusp of deletion.

People’s Captain – Stereotype – 4.5% (Draft) – £3.40 1/2 pint

Two Tribes Campfire (6 / 111)

Open air tap room for this brewery on the northern border of King’s Cross. They have ten of their own beers available on tap plus some packaged beers. It’s in the courtyard space but it does have a fair degree of cover for when the weather is not so good.

Two Tribes – Metro Land – 3.8% (Draft) – £3.10 1/2 pint

Hammerton Tap Room (7 / 112)

Excellent tap room space at the brewery adjacent to Caledonian Road & Barnbury station. 16 taps of their own beers available, with flights offered. There is also a pizza kitchen on site. Lots of seating inside with additional seating in the yard outside.

Hammerton – Groll – 4.7% (Draft) – £3.05 1/2 pint

House Of Hammerton (8 / 113)

Pub owned by the brewery and the first showcase for their beers before the tap room opened. A short walk from the station this spacious bar offers 18 taps, mostly their own but with a couple of guests. Limited street seating. They offer a pizza menu.

Hammerton : Trout State – 5.8% (Draft) – £3.80 1/2 pint

Indiebeer (9 / 114)

Excellent bottle shop and bar on the Holloway Road close to the station. 4 beers on tap plus multiple fridges offering more than 200 packaged beers. You can order pizza to eat in at this friendly place. Can get busy before and after Arsenal home games.

McColl’s – Beet De Garde 2024 – 7.5% (Draft) – £3.00 1/3 pint
