Dodo Micropub (1 / 197)
Multi award winning micropub in the backstreets of Hanwell. Expect to find 4 keg beers and 2 cask beers served on gravity from the cold room. Food is the usual bar snacks apart from the first Sunday of every month when cheese and biscuits is laid on. Plenty of bench seating laid out in a way that encourages you to share with others and adds to the conviviality of the place.
Elusive – Oberon – 4.8% (Cask) – £2.90 1/2 pint
Grosvenor (2 / 198)
Imposing corner pub in the residential heart of Hanwell. A dozen taps and 4 handpulls which, unfortunately, no longer the range that they once did. Now mostly macro keg and tired cask.
St Austell – Marshall’s Best – 3.4% (Cask) – £2.70 1/2 pint
The Owl & The Pussycat (3 / 199)
Micropub and micro brewery. All beers, up to 6 cask and 5 keg, are their own Marko Paulo Brewery beers, although Untappd tends to still list them as Ealing Brewery. Comfortable one room micropub in a former shop. There is plenty of seating indoors, with an additional few seats on the pavement. Food is limited to the usual bar snacks.
Marko Paulo – Hamber Best – 4.4% (Cask) – £1.70 1/3 pint
Marko Paulo – Westlondinium 6 (2024) – 7.3% (Draft) – £2.00 1/3 pint
Prince of Wales Townhouse (4 / 200)
Large backstreet pub a couple of minutes walk from Ravenscourt Park station. Another member of the Big Smoke family their beers are well represented on the 20 taps and 6 handpulls, although their are plenty of guests too. Lots of seating inside with a covered area outside. Extensive food menu is served and they also do accommodation.
Renegade – Queensbury Jack Session IPA – 4.8% (Draft) – £3.50 1/2 pint
Express Tavern (5 / 201)
Imposing pub adjacent to Kew Bridge station. Another member of the Big Smoke family this one differs slightly in having as many cask, ten, as keg. Cosy seating inside with more to the rear and an extensive beer garden. Food is available.
Oakham – Original Pale Ale – 4.0% (Cask) – £2.60 1/2 pint
Harvey’s – Sussex Best – 4.0% (Cask) – £2.55 1/2 pint
Black Dog Beer House (6 / 202)
Large back street pub just off the main drag in Brentford that offers a really good beer range. The on-site brewery no longer operates but they still offer a great choice across their 7 handpulls and 14 taps. Plenty of indoor seating and a large garden to the rear. Always busy, it is clearly popular with the locals. Food is served.
Verdant – Hell For Pleather – 6.5% (Draft) – £5.65 1/2 pint
Northumberland Arms (7 / 203)
Unassuming looking pub on the main road through Brentford, but looks can be deceptive. Owned by the same person who runs Tiny Vessel Brewery it is the de facto tap with one of their beers usually, but not always, available. The supporting cast is limited but high quality – Duvel 6.66, Budvar Dark, you get the idea. Well worth a visit.
Tiny Vessel – Dark Matter – 4.5% (Draft) – £3.00 1/2 pint
Hi Steve,
I recently had a message from Pete at the Black Dog stating that he hopes to restart brewing (Fearless Nomad) in the latter half of this year after a few years hiatus.
Bob
Thanks for the update. I’ll keep an eye on it. Fingers crossed.
