One of the great London pubs, always a favourite amongst beer tickers looking for something new. Maybe not as good as in its heyday but still a great bar to visit with 19 taps and 5 handpumps. Check the fridges behind the bar for a selection of some of the Belgian classics. One corner is now given over to an Indian street food kitchen which is very good indeed.

Macintosh Ale House (3 / x)
Tucked away in a quiet yard is the tap room for Macintosh Ales. They still cuckoo brew but condition the beers here and are still slowly working towards their own kit. They only brew two beers and both are available in this cosy space, one on cask and one on keg, and both of them are excellent. Limited indoor seating but they now have the licence to allow people to sit outside too. No food other than crisps and pork pies.

With no external signage the Graceland group have taken their minimalist design approach to the maximum here. But you’re visiting for the beer, and you will find the usual excellent selection you associate with them. 20 taps and 3 handpumps that include a good selection from the group brewery, Saint Monday, alongside guests. Lots of space and an attractive small garden area. On site kitchen offers food.

After starting up with a small bar at the rear of Hiver on the Bermondsey beer mile they eventually opened their own dedicated space on the northern edge of Hackney. A unit in an old studio space alongside multiple food outlets they offer 6 beers on tap alongside a large range of packaged beers. Seating here is communal which means you are free to buy food anywhere to enjoy alongside your beer.

Pembury Tavern (6 / 273)
Large corner pub overlooking the multi-exit road junction that owners Five Point are named after. 16 taps and 6 handpumps offering a good mix of Five Points beers and well chosen guests. Deceptively spacious inside it does also offer some outdoor seating. They have a pizza kitchen as well to meet your food requirements.

Another London classic pub and a true spit and sawdust venue. 8 taps, 8 handpumps and 8 hand pulled ciders. This is a must visit when in Hackney. Bar snacks only, but this is a proper pub where you come for great beer and good company.

Large double arch setup with the brewing kit in one and a comfortable tap room space in the other. 16 taps, around half of which are their own with the rest given over to guest beers. There is a kitchen offering an interesting menu that certainly smells very good.

Saved by the local community this is a true success story. Deceptively large bar with a sizeable beer garden to the rear, but it still gets very busy with , on occasion, queues of people waiting to get in. This is a proper locals pub that nevertheless offers a great range of beers with very little macro. 10 taps and 5 handpumps of well chosen beers and ciders. You can order Yard Sale Pizza to be delivered to you whilst you enjoy your beer.
