Why?

OK, so this is a bit of a cheat but I’ll start all of this by repeating my first ever Blog post.

It serves as an introduction to those of you that don’t know me. My apologies to those of you that may have read it before.

“Why?

Such a small word, such a big question.

Why start a blog?

I guess the glib answer is “Why not?” The real answer will no doubt turn out to be much more complicated!

Why “The Hopping, Scooping Twitcher?”

The answer to this is more straightforward, it is simply a way of describing some of the things that interest me, and more importantly it describes what is most likely to be written about in this blog.

Hopper is the shortened form of groundhopper. It is the name given to somebody who enjoys visiting new sports grounds, although it is most commonly applied to those that visit football grounds.

Scooper is the name given to somebody who enjoys drinking new beers.

Twitcher is probably the most well known of the three and is the name given to somebody who travels in search of new, and often rare, birds.

There is a common theme that runs through all of these pastimes so I may as well come out with it from the start:

My name is Stephen and I am a lister.

I keep lists, lots of lists. Keep reading this blog and this fact will become apparent, very apparent.

And maybe that answers the question “Why?” Perhaps this entire blog is my attempt at some form of self-help. Time will tell…”

So there we have it. Obviously this is now a website, not just a Blog, and hopefully this will allow me to go in to more detail around some of the themes that I write about.

I said it before, I’ll say it again – Time will tell…
